An Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number that is considered an essential document for proof of identity and proof of address. The Aadhar card is also required for availing various government subsidies and benefits.

Name Correction in Aadhaar Card

Aadhaar card name change can be done in two ways – online and offline. Aadhaar card name change online is the most beneficial and convenient mode as it offers a hassle-free process to update your demographical data without having to visit any Permanent Aadhaar Centre PEC or Aadhaar Kendra Service.

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Unique Identification Authority of India.

Step 2: Click on the ‘’Update Demographics Data Online’’ option listed under the ‘’Update Your Aadhaar’’ section of the ‘’My Aadhaar’’ tab.

Step 3: As the new tab opens, click on the ‘’Proceed to Update Aadhaar’’ option.

Step 4: You need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha code for verification. After entering the valid credentials, click on the ‘’Send OTP’’ button.

Step 5: Six-digit OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Once you enter the OTP, you are allowed to update your demographics data online.

Step 6: Make the relevant changes in the ‘’Name’’ section and click on ‘’Proceed’’ to submit the data. Similarly, you can update your date of birth, address, or language using this option.

Step 7: In the next step, you are required to upload the relevant supportive documents/valid identity proofs related to the name update. Do remember to follow the instruction on file size, file type and ensure to upload both sides of the document.

Step 8: Upon submitting the data and the documents, you are redirected to make the payment for the update of your name.

Step 9: Once the payment is successful, an update request number or URN will be generated. Acknowledgement copy can be downloaded for reference.

Mobile Number Correction in Aadhaar Card

The procedure for updating mobile numbers with an Aadhaar card has become much simpler owing to new features on UIDAI’s online portal.

Individuals can now link mobile number to Aadhaar card online via the Self-service Update Portal (SSUP) without any hassle.

Step 1: Visit the online portal of UIDAI.

Step 2: Insert the registered phone number that you wish to update before entering the required captcha code 

Step 3: After clicking on the ‘Send OTP’ option, you’ll receive the OTP on your mobile

Step 4: Submit the OTP and move on to the next step.

Step 5: From the ‘Online Aadhaar Services’ menu, choose an option that you want to update (your mobile number, in this case)

Step 6: Provide the necessary information and submit your phone number

Step 7: Once you are redirected to the new page, enter the captcha code

Step 8: After completing the previous step, you will get an OTP on your phone

Step 9: Once you’re done verifying the OTP, click on the ‘Save and Proceed’ option

After following the steps mentioned above, book an appointment at the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. Visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra at the scheduled time to pay a nominal charge and provide additional documents that might be required to complete this process.

DOB Correction in Aadhaar Card

There were two different methods of online and offline, wherein you were allowed do update date of birth in aadhaar, however, at present, as per UIDAI directives, update date of birth in aadhaar can only be done offline, which would mean that you need to visit physically any next-door Permanent Aadhaar Centre PEC or Aadhaar Kendra Service or ASK to get this service in particular and you will not be allowed to change update date of birth in aadhaaronline. Additionally, you may book an appointment online and also download the aadhaar update/correction form and visit the centre, when needed.

You can book an appointment online which will be beneficial for you to avoid long lines and undesirable botheration. Here are the steps below for booking an appointment.

Step 1: Visit the official website of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/and click on “Book Appointment” below “Get Aadhaar” under “My Aadhaar” in the homepage

Step 2: Select the name of the centre as per your locational convenience and click” Proceed to Book Appointment”

Step 3: Pick the option “Aadhaar Update” as shown below

Step 4: Enter your mobile number and also the Captcha code

Step 5: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number

Step 6: On successful authentication, you will a form that you to need to fill in with necessary details and submit the form

Step 7: Make the appointment by visiting the tab stating “Manage Appointment” tab

Step 8: Download the “ Aadhaar Enrolment/ Update Form” from https://uidai.gov.in/images/aadhaar_enrolment_correction_form_version_2.1.pdf

Step 9: Visit the PEC or ASK as per the time slot and with the form along with required supporting documents to update date of birth in aadhaar

Photo Correction in Aadhaar Card

The UIDAI website takes up to 90 days to reflect your Aadhaar Card updates. You are not required to produce any documents for photo updation. Currently, there is no online portal for updating your photo.
You can track the update status by using the URN (Update Request Number) provided to you in the acknowledgement slip.

Step 1: Visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra.

Step 2: Request for an enrollment form. You can also consider downloading the form from the official website of UIDAI

Step 3: Furnish all the details as prescribed in the form

Step 4: Submit the form to the concerned official and provide your biometric details

Step 5: Get your live photograph clicked by the executive

Step 6: Pay the aadhaar card photo change charges. It amounts to INR 100.

Step 7: Collect the acknowledgement slip along with the URN from the executive

Step 8: You can track the updation status using the URN number

Address Correction in Aadhaar Card

Aadhar card address changes online are needed when someone moves permanently. Aadhar card updating is simple and may be done online or offline, contrary to common perception. A smartphone app for Aadhar card updates is also available. UIDAI is an Indian government agency that operates under a legal mandate.

Step 1: Visit the official portal of the Aadhaar Self-Service Update. 

Step 2: Then choose “Login.” 

Step 3: Now, provide your Aadhaar number, and enter the captcha code to click “Send OTP.”

Step 4: You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, and after that, you can log in to your Aadhaar account.

Step 5: Click on “Update Aadhaar Online” under Services to update your address, gender, date of birth, name, and language of your Aadhaar card. 

Step 6: Follow the redirection, and click on “Proceed to Update Aadhaar”

Step 7: Click on your concerned Aadhaar details for updating and click “Proceed to Update Aadhaar”. You should also remember that there is a limit to updating/correcting your Aadhaar. 

Step 8: After that, you will be able to see all existing details on your Aadhaar card. Now, enter the details you are willing to change/ update and upload supporting documents.

Step 9:  Note the preview of your currently provided details and pay ₹ 50 (non-refundable) using net banking or a credit/ debit card.
